Model Context Protocol

The open standard, started by Anthropic, for connecting AI assistants to tools and data.

About Model Context Protocol

The Model Context Protocol, or MCP, is an open standard that defines how AI applications talk to outside tools and data. Instead of writing a custom integration for each assistant, a developer builds one MCP server that any compatible client can use. The project provides the specification, SDKs for several languages and a set of reference servers for things like files, Git and databases. Clients such as Claude, VS Code and many other AI tools support it. MCP is free and open source. It is the best place to start if you want to understand or build your own servers.
